I think it is just the heat…

Often times we have people come thru the studio to try Hot Yoga for the first time. Of course 26 poses and 2 breathing exercises in a precise 105/40 room is a true discipline. This is not a casual exercise routine. I can see within minutes when someone begins to struggle. Sometimes people allow their minds to race or to get anxious and they feel the need to stop or even leave the room. Of course we are all adults here and you know better than anyone what you must do for your own good. So we allow you to react the way you think is best for you. When people are struggling, and sometimes leave the room, I always watch them and make sure they are ok. I always ask them if they have eaten today and are they well hydrated. Almost always they will answer that they actually have not eaten today at all, or they ate a little, or a piece of fruit eight hours ago ! People, understand, this is serious Yoga. You can not do this yoga and be dehydrated or under nourished. If you want to have a successful Hot Yoga Practice you must learn to balance the nutrition with water and timing so as to have an empty stomach come time to practice. Proper nutrition and hydration timing are essential to a good rewarding practice. It saddens me to think that sometimes people may never return to try Hot Yoga because of their first experience was unpleasant due to them not being prepared. So remember, this is no routine go to the gym and see what happens. This is serious stuff with serious benefits if you do it right. Hope to see you soon. Rowena Brown.
